“Fanis Iakovides, professor of astronomy and
astrophysics, recalls his childhood memories from growing up in Constantinople.
When Fanis was 7 years old, his grandfather was an owner of a general store
with a specialty in spices. Fanis grew very attached to his grandfather. Fanis
and his family flee to Greece in 1963. After 3 decades Fanis returns to
Istanbul to visit his near-death grandfather and runs into his old love, Saime,
who is now married.“
